Post 2: Short Film

Research: What is needed in order to create a good short film

Below I have watched a clip which I found on youtube which has acted as an aid to the tips in Short Films.

-60% images and 40% dialogue can be effective in a short film. The use of Mise-En-Scene and body language can be more affective as displaying a story, time period, status in comparrisson to a script.

-Simple storylines are more beneficial when it comes to producing a short film. For example: it would be easier for an audience to follow a more simple storyline whereby they are able to connect and emphasize with characters as well as developing their own opinion on matters and obstacles which occur in the clips.

-It is important to consider setting when it comes to producing a short film. A couple of settings in a short film can benefit a short film as audiences are able to gather a sense of familiarity and location through this idea.

-Todorov's narrative implies that any film should have a start, middle and an ending. The film should start with an equilibrium, a disruption of peace and then the film should end with the conflict coming to an end. This theory can be known to have a positive effect on an audience as audiences enjoy viewing characters overcoming different obstacles and seeing a positive final outcome. This can link to positive escapism for an audience.

-Antagonist and Protagonist as leading characters. With the use of two opposing characters this can be used as a tool to make a film seem more appealing with a sense of conflict.
