Post 6: Group Work

We have all split up in to groups amongst our class. Alongside my group members (Georgia and Danny) we have decided to create our short film revolving around the paranoia of girlfriend, Poppy. Convinced, Poppy believes her boyfriend of 6 months has been cheating on her and wants to get to the bottom of it. This will be our final idea towards our Coursework piece.

We plan for out short film to appear under the Romantic Thriller Genre. We have chosen this genre to be most suitable due to the excitement and thrill within the film linking to romance. There is the underlying question behind the whole film of whether Karl is in fact cheating on his girlfriend Poppy with friend Kath.

We have made our own Beats to match what we plan our film to appear as. Our beats reflect the growing frustration and paranoia of the character of Poppy until the final moments of the film where the audience is left questioning if in fact Karl was unfaithful the whole time or Poppy is suffering with trust issues.

As a group we have decided we want to leave the audience guessing. This will become evident as we progress in our script writing. The audience should be left with a false sense of security, wondering if Poppy is in fact insane or Karl has been lying. Different audiences may interpret this in different ways, it wouldn't be till the end that people could develop a natural view. We are planning to make the character of Poppy seem clingy and demanding in her relationship; convinced to the extent that the audience can only see the character of Poppy as being paranoid. The ending of our film may leave the audience in two as our main idea is to drive the audience to believe Poppy is insane until the end where the audience question if she had her rights to be worried.
